Formation Themes and Milestones
Each year in our program, youth focus on a different aspect of the Christian journey, with a number of significant milestones along the way. Beginning with a year of transition in 6th Grade ("Epiphany Year"), youth formation tracks with the trajectory of Jesus' life and ministry.
7th Grade "Temple Year" is a year of exploring the Hebrew Scriptures and their relationship to the New Testament, culminating with their Enrollment in Confirmation at the end of the year in a ceremony modeled after Jesus' teaching in the temple when he was 12.
Beginning in 2019, 8th Grade "Wilderness Year" is the year youth have the opportunity to be Confirmed, a journey which includes a wilderness retreat inspired by Jesus' journey into the desert before beginning his public ministry.
9th Grade "City Year" will focus on Christian vocation in the world and will give freshman an opportunity for service and immersion through an Urban Adventure trip in the spring.
10th Grade is "Pilgrim Year." Sophomores will spend much of the year learning about the art and practice of pilgrimage, culminating in their own pilgrimage in the summer.
11th and 12th Grades focus on equipping students for servant leadership and providing space for youth to discern where God is calling them after graduating high school.
These themes tie in seamlessly to the broader Milestones ministry for children and youth at All Saints.' Learn more below.
